Guest guest
My dear friends, Thanks for welcoming me. Regarding your question I should say that there is a society in Tehran (Capital of Iran and where I live) for vegetarians. Also there are very few restaurants (I know 3) for this reason and in addition to that there is one small store near one of these restaurants that offers vegi products. I should confess that it's very poor for a city that almost 20 million people live in it. I'm not aware of the exact no of vegetarians who live in our country but it should be much less than 1% of our crowd. All these years I hardly saw 2 other people that were vegetarian. I've also seen people who have tried this habit for a while and given up on it. Due to my knowledge vegetarianism is not a popular thing in our country. Almost all of our traditional dishes include meat and if you want to go out to eat you'll end up having no choice or 1 choice on our restaurants menus. When I say others that I'm a vegetarian, they seems surprised at first, some ask what that means, and when I explain them they again ask me: " What the heck do you eat then? " and after explaining more again they ask: " So, do you eat sausage? Do you eat fish? Do you eat burger? " !!! I burst with a laughter and give up explaining finally. If I was a member of vegetarian's society things might look better from my point of view but actually I'm not into isms much. I don't like to be labeled or be considered as a member of any Religion/Political group. I just do what I think is right for me and right to the world. Wish you a good day, Kind Regards, Samira --- On Sun, 2/21/10, Patricia <moondreamer64_2000 wrote: Patricia <moondreamer64_2000 Re: New Member Sunday, February 21, 2010, 9:06 PM Welcome, Samir. It's more than 10 years that I'm a vegetarian. I eat dairy and eggs but completely avoid all kind of meat and don't use any of animal products (Clothing, pills, cosmetics and etc,..). I'm so excited to hear about your believes and experiences. Wish you a good time.
