Guest guest
Hello everyone, I am new to this group. My name is Summer, I am 25, and my husband is 30. We have a little boy who has just turned 4, and sometime around March 1st we will be having another child. We have been vegan for the past 3 years. Before that I was vegetarian for 8 years consistantly, my husband for 2 years. I wasn't a big meat eatter as a child and in fact I would refuse to eat meat when it was served. If my parents hadn't had the idea that I would die if I stopped eatting it I would have been a vegetarian much sooner. We live in Oregon and although most of the people we know are vegetarians none of them have children. So it can be a bit difficult. My family is very supportive now and have been for quite sometime. Still every once in a while you get the " ooh, you can't eat that can you " , which is very annoying. Also what I have found particularly annoying, is that some of the prenatal nutritional information they gave me at the Dr. visit was from the dairy counsil! It is (as you would immagine) quite biased. As is some of the other info. Luckily my Dr. seems very good and didn't even twitch when I said we were vegan. Well enough from me for now, I am glad to have found this group. Summer
Guest guest
Hi Summer I had that experience too when I went to the OB for my pregnancy and they gave me a bunch of stuff from the dairy council. I threw it right into the trash, right in front of them too. tee hee. It was great. If anyone would like to share the story of why they went vegan, there's a section on my website at www.vegfamily.com where people submit their " why vegan " stories. It is so much fun to read why people went vegan. I thought birthstories would be a big hit, and it's ddoing okay, but my " Why Vegan " section really took off. So here's my next question... For those of you who have kids who can talk, for lack of a better word, what do they say when people ask them about being vegan? Guest guest
hahah,, yeah me too! Well at 1:30 I'll be standing as close as possible to John Robbins to hear him speak. I'll have a hip pack on (black), I'll be wearing a green shirt and green shorts. Short hair, pale skin, 5'9 " and I'll be with hubby who is average build, sandy hair, 6'0 " , and sort of nondescript. if I'm not at the front, I'll be panting in the shade somewhere. I don't tolerate heat well. --Erin - <clarkepf Thursday, July 27, 2000 10:13 PM Re: New Intro > In a message dated 7/27/00 11:48:55 AM Pacific Daylight Time, > erin writes: > > << I threw it right into the > trash, right in front of them too. tee hee.
