We have tried several things including Gentain Violet, to no avail. I am taking Diflucan now, but I am beginning to think that I have a more serious yeastproblem. I have been on antibiotics many times and taken bc pills for years, so now I am trying to " undo " the damage. If anyone else has had experience with a candida problem, please email me at tfreyre. Guest guest
Tracey - My first child and I had an awful time with thrush so you have my sympathy. Generally diet changes are not effective in treating thrush so I'd discourage eliminating fermented foods from your diet. What worked for us was a combination of things (and possibly time). We tried to keep her out of diapers as much as possible so there wasn't a warm, moist place for yeast to multiply. I tried to keep my nipples exposed to the air as much as possible for the same reason. My obstetrician had had the same problem with her daughter and she suggested dusting the baby's bottom with cornstarch at each diaper change (after cleaning her up). I know a lot of books say not to do this but it worked for us when standard treatments like oral drops, creams, etc. didn't. . Good luck!
