Guest guest
odrade and others, I wrote that unvaccinated children are a risk for all because it is a poor example and it seems to be catching on. When there was a decline in the measles vaccinations in 1980's 120 died and 210,000 were hospitalized. In 1998, the rate rose and only 89 were hospitalizes and none died. Still think the risk is too high? people take their children on planes, cars, etc. and these have a higher risk of death than vaccines. I study immunology and this discussion makes me work harder to cure disease and prevent it. On person stated that they don't need statistics, just a story of a child's ordeal. Why don't you read stories from the mother's who lost their children to a preventable disease because people scared her with losing her child. When ignorance reigns, life is lost. This is my final word, I just had to respond to people not worried about their kids getting sick. I work first hand with disease and know it's capabilities. Please read, what every parent should know about vaccines by paul offit, md. He discusses both sides. I have seen the other web sites and find it ironic that there are web pages dedicated to children who died from vaccines, yet, none for those who have died from the lack of vaccines. I see that as a real bias. I do not use scare tactics, just reality when I stated to go to the aap site. An unvaccinated child is 35 times more likely than an vaccinated child to get ill, why take that chance? Again, it's your choice, but it's also your child's life, not yours a risk.....
