Guest guest
What would attract vegetarian parents and their families to local vegetarian societies, and what could vegetarian group organizers do to attract vegetarian families - both parents and their children of various ages? Most vegetarian that I know LOVE to try new recipes:-) hY~Y~Y~Y~Yg Tracey hY~Y~Y~Y~Yg
Guest guest
One thing that would help is increased visibility of vegetarian societies. As the parent of a vegetarian teen, I've had to dig for info. I'd be thrilled to take the family to vegetarian events in our area, if I knew of them. I don't think there are any groups in my county at all. There are groups an hour+ from here, but that's a bit far for a busy family to travel. Guest guest
A POINTER..... India is one of the few countries that advocates vegetarian diet since last 5000+ years. In India, one finds people of all types. the real good ones usually are hidden somewhere, difficult to get to, as they want a life free of fame and glory, and lead a very simple life. Many of the renunciates in India (though not all) are highly educated in formal education like Doctors, Engineers or MBAs. One such person is Guru Rishi Prabhakar, educated in Canada (MS, MBA), now living a life of renunciation and social service in India (Bangalore). I had the rare privelege of meeting him, and learning from him to live in harmony with others. He has on his website www.ssy.org. He has a wonderful way of organizing meetings. When we meet we greet each other 'JAI GURUDEV', the teacher who enlightens us. All of us bring some sort of healthy food (most of it is raw, some time cooked) which is made in such a way that it is palatable to people who have not even been vegetarians. On His website or by contacting him or his assosciates by email at info, one can get a book on the simple receipe of raw healthy food (AMRUT AHAR) which means NECTARIAN DIET. The other features on the website are worth seeing sply on curing Chronic ailments. This is a very ancient science from India, and should be available free but, only to responsible people. Among other things, some games or some music is organized. the music is conducive for meditation and living a life of inner freedom. It is a great time, as there is some sort of common understanding about our responsibilities and support and encouragement for each other.
