Guest guest
Hi. I'm a freelance writer researching an article about vegetarian pregnancy and parenting for American Baby magazine. The article will focus on how to have a healthy pregnancy and raise healthy vegetarian children. I am looking for vegetarians who have been or are pregnant and/or have toddlers (children 2 or younger) who are vegetarians. Even if you were a vegetarian before getting pregnant but decided to eat some meat during your pregnancy, I'd like to speak with you. The interview should take only 15-20 minutes. If you're interested, please get in touch with me before Nov. 3 so that we can set up a mutually convenient time. Thanks. Guest guest
Megan, I was vegan throughout my pregnancy and now my 14-month-old son is vegan, too. He's small, but that's genetic. He's also very, very healthy. During his 14 months, he's had only one cold, which I gave to him. Other than that, his health has been great. I nursed him exclusively for about 8 months and then I introduced solids. I still nurse, but it is only about twice a day. Anyway, I'd be glad to talk to you. I have continued to be a vegetarian throughout my pregnancy. My doctor says the baby is growing fine and is healthy. I plan on raising our baby as a vegetarian, but my husband wishes otherwise, who is not a vegetarian but respects my opinion to be one. He think that it should not be deprived of meat. So we made an agreement that I will raise it vegetarian and offer her/him meat substitutions and he can give him/her meat and when they are old enough to decide and understand reasons for vegetarianism, they can decide. Its going to be interesting to see how it turns out. Just thought I'd share my story over email because I am writing from home- Mexico. Sharon Stanton de Cuevas Messenger - Talk while you surf! Guest guest
Hi Megan, I would be willing to talk with you for your article if you still need people to interview. I have been vegetarian for ~12 years (vegan for 7) and have 2 children who have both been raised on a vegan diet. Both are in great health and I had very healthy pregnancies with healthy, large babies. Anyways you can contact me if needed! Thanks, Jessica Metz

Guest guest
Thanks for getting in touch with me. You sound like you'd be an interesting person to talk to about vegetarian pregnancy and parenting. I want to make sure I interview a diverse sampling of parents. Could you let me know what part of the country you're in and how old you are? Also, is your children's father vegetarian/vegan, too? Guest guest
Hello! I am currently living in Arkansas (originally from Louisiana), I am 25 with four children(ages 1,2,6, & 8). We (my husband included) have become vegetarians during the last four months. It has been tough on the kids but since we discussed all the reasons it is good for your body they have done an amazing job switching over. They even tell friends (and strangers that remark on all the fruits and veggies in our basket) that they give life energy and the other bad food is dead! It is funny to see the look on their faces! The health benefits we have received in just this short time is AMAZING!. I do have trouble finding vegetarian items or even organic items here in the small town I live in so it has been tough, but well worth the effort. Let me know if you have any questions! Guest guest
i am 26, i am from glens falls, ny thats in the adirondack mountains. i've been a vegetarian since i was 19. even thou i was raised in a meat eating hunting family it was a natural lifestyle change for me. from time to time we eat chicken but not often at all.usually just when we go to friends as a compromise. my son's father too is a veg. but not as strictly as i, he eats fast food burgers sometimes (yuck). and he isn't as supportive of my beliefs as i would like him to be. as for our son he is a vegetarian by nature, he won't eat meat, he'll pick it off his plate and throw it on the floor before he will touch anything on his plate. makes a mama proud. i hope to participate in the quest, angela Megan Howard <mhoward3 wrote:
