Guest guest
Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. As to peanut butter, yes, it is the allergy issue (cashew and almond butter are also banned, BTW - but luckily my son loves soynut butter). Daycares in Manitoba are not allowed to serve any peanut products, but in the past year we (the board of directors) have banned the parents from bringing in any as well, because we had an extremely allergic little boy in our care. He is now gone, but we've kept the policy in place just in case we get another (there are all too many allergic kids around nowadays, unfortunately). We don't want to have to go through the whole painful process again. About McD, yes, it's the playplace that is attracting him. So far he has been satisfied with my response, but if necessary we'll pull out the big guns about dead animals ... I prefer to keep those in reserve as he is a very sensitive little guy and I don't want to be up all night with nightmares ... we've also refused a couple of birthday party invitations at Burger King (luckily we are Sabbath-observant Jews so I could use that as an excuse for not going to those parties which happened to be on Saturday ...). I find the smell in those places totally nauseating even if they do have veggie burgers or whatever ... (quite aside from the ethical issues - since we do eat out at other restaurants that serve meat, just not hamburger joints). I agree that unfertilised eggs do not contain baby chicks. I buy the Omega 3 eggs since we do not eat fish. They are more expensive, but at least their yolk has some colour to it ... I wish I could buy eggs from you, Crystal! I don't suppose you ship to Winnipeg ... 8-) Be well, Hadass
