I was saying how adorable and sweet the animals were and how I was disgusted that anyone could eat them. I also commented on how all of the kids were playing with the animals but later they would probably eat them. A few parents looked ashamed (at least I am hoping that it was shame) and some herded their children out of earshot of me. Sara
Guest guest
We're in central Illinois too, but I thought that would be too much to ask! We live in the Champaign-Urbana area. Guest guest
I'm in Champaign with my 14-month-old daughter. It's not a particularly veg-friendly place, though. So far I've had to explain to her daycare provider that no, chicken is NOT a vegetable, nor is shrimp. Sigh. I like to stir things up a little by going to the petting zoo (my daughter loves animals) and saying things like, " See the cow? What a nice, gentle cow! We like cows. That's why we don't kill them and eat them. " Nearby parents look alarmed, grab their children and back slowly away:) Where in Illinois are you? Guest guest
OK, I was waiting for this response. I am born and raised in Champaign-Urbana also. There is a very strong veggie group, of all ages, in that area. Now I live in Denver, CO (six months) and I miss the support system of Central Illinois. Guest guest
Lisa, Where in Central FL do youl live? We're from Jax, but have family that we regularly visit near Crystal River/Ocala. : ) Anywhere near us? Any veggie restaurants? I know of one in St Augustine, that's it.
