Emma Emma, I bought The Vegetarian Child by Lucy Moll, it is not very big but it is pretty informative. Guest guest
Hi! My son is almost 8 months old now, and vegan. When I was pregnant I bought a book by Dr. Michael Klapper called " Pregnancy, Children and the Vegan Diet " . It contains all the information on nutritional needs of children on vegan diets, exactly what they need and how much - not many recipes in there, but a great reference book. I bought mine from www.amazon.com I would love to find another book which contains mainly vegan recipes for children. Guest guest
This message is for Emma and Shane. An article called "Raising A Vegetarian Child" by Melanie Wilson , I found it in LaLecheLeague's Breastfeeding journal July - Aug. 2000 volume 17 number 4. It was a pretty good article plu has some recipes for babies. Good luck finding it. Guest guest
I have " Into the Mouths of Babes " by Susan Tate Firkaly, " Vegetarian Children " by Sharon Yntema and " Vegetarian Baby & Child " by Petra Jacksonn - all have been very helpful. There is also a bi-monthly magazine out there called " Vegetarian Children " which is pretty interesting. Go to www.vegetarianbaby.com for more info. Here are my favourites: The Vegetarian Mother and Baby Book, by Rose Elliot. Feeding the Whole Family, by Cynthia Lair. The Vegetarian Child, by Lucy Moll. BTW, Emma, you probably know this, but current recommendations are to hold off on solids until the baby is 6 months old, and to breastfeed for at least a year. Be well, Hadass, mother to two little vegetarian boys.
