Guest guest
Hi Suzana, Forgive me for jumping in late on this conversation. I only check this email about once a week. Congratulations on starting your son out vegan. If you do plan to add eggs and dairy to his diet later (lacto-ovo vegetarian), I highly recommend the title Super Baby Food. There is one small section on meat preparation, but the rest of the book is vegetarian with great information on when it's safe to start certain foods like tofu, beans, etc. Even though we are vegan, I was able to adjust many of the recipes in this book for us. I would buy it just for the general feeding and food prep information. You mentioned making sure he gets enough nutrients from food without lowering your milk supply. I would suggest that you give him his nutrients from breast milk *first* (a superior source of nutrition), then feed him solids--especially during the first year. Melanie Wilson Editor/Owner Vegetarian Baby & Child Magazine www.vegetarianbaby.com help for starting vegan kid Hi, I'm new here and need some help! I need some guidance on what/how to progress with solids now that he apparently needs protein (so the doctor said, recommending meat as the next step); beans and lentils are a source, but dried or green? Strained or pureed? Will they not upset his stomach? How often and shoud it be mixed with veg soup or alternate them? What other choices are there? We want to eventually give him dairy and eggs. And how can I do this introduction of solids so it is enough nutrients for him and at the same time it does not lower my milk supply? Thanks, suzana __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
