Guest guest
Can someone recommend to me some good cooking books for a family? I see a lot of the books have gourmet-ish recipes. I don't do that. How are the Moosewood books? Also, if you know of some good dairy-free dessert or cooking books, I'm interested (Lactose intolerant here). I really like Betty Crocker's Vegetarian Cooking. It is definitely lacto-ovo although I am sure you would know how to make appropriate substitutions if you are vegan. But the recipes are pretty basic and I have found several that have become family favorites! ~Tracey ~mom to Brandon 08/25/96 ~due with #2 07/26/

My favorite everyday cookbooks are Laurel's Kitchen and The Farm Vegetarian Cookbook. Another one that is not vegetarian but gets a lot of use in my kitchen is The More-With-Less Cookbook put out by the Mennonites (Doris Janzen Longacre is the author). I also like the Moosewood books, but the recipes tend to be on the fancier, more complicated side. The Farm book is vegan, so no dairy. Guest guest
Vegan Vittles by Joanne Stepaniak is a great 'non-gourmet' cookbook with lots of favorites... Sweet & Natural by Meredith McCarty is GREAT for dairy-free desserts, muffins, breads, cookies... muslimapmama on 02/12/2001 08:49:32 PM Please respond to cc: (bcc: Sheri Hearn/Providence/EALaw) Recommended Books? (vegan) by Bronfman that I purchased off the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine site. I love the recipes and knowing that we are getting plenty of calcium in our diets. I think a lot of the recipes are pretty simple.
Guest guest
To muslimapmama: I think the Moosewood books are great (I'm not vegan). The recipes are simple and easy, and great for crowds. Another one is the Vegetarian Times Cookbook, edited by Lucy Moll. Happy Cooking! Guest guest
Many of the suggestions have been used with success in our home. I REALLY recommend Simply Vegan, too. It's by Debra Wasserman. The recipes in here are SO easy - they usually contain no more than 5-10 ingredients (including spices, etc.), but are still delicious! Can you tell this is my favorite cookbook? There's also lots of room for playing around with the recipes (changing and/or adding veggies or anything else).
