Guest guest
This is a little off the beaten path of vegetarian parents, but I'm hoping someone can help me out. We are trying to cut down on the amount of sugar(and simple carbs) we eat, but my wife loves to bake. Any suggestions or recipies on how to bake without using as much sugar, and incorporating more whole grains? Guest guest
Hi, I too had problems with this when wanting to bake. I asked at the health food store and they gave me great ideas. Usually the people who work there are very knowledgeable about all their products. When using flour buy organic, you can use 1/2 white unbleached and 1/2 wholegrain(wheat, rye,multigrain,etc.). For cookies I use the whole wheat pastry flour and really found it works great. As for sweeteners, I have a problems using artifical sweetners so a good thing for us is to use the Fructose(fruit sugar), honey, molasses or even applesauce. When cutting out the simple sugars and simple carbs you are doing yourself & Body a great favor! Have a great day Rhonda - David Levin Wednesday, February 14, 2001 12:33 PM Cutting sugar/ simple carbs This is a little off the beaten path of vegetarian parents, but I'm hoping someone can help me out.We are trying to cut down on the amount of sugar(and simple carbs) we eat, but my wife loves to bake.
