Guest guest
I'm in the United States, so the cookbooks I'm familar with are obviously the ones sold in this country--I don't know if any of the following are available abroad, but for those in the USA, here're some books I like: _The Compassionate Cook: Or, 'Please Don't Eat the Animals!' A vegetarian Cookbook_ by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), Warner Books, 1271 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10020, ISBN 0-446-39492-0 SOME of the recipes in here are still sorta gourmet (for parties etc.) but I like it because most of the recipes are pretty practial, like lentil shepard pie etc. (all diary free). The stuff I've tried from this book have generally been good. _Table for Two: Meat- and Dairy-Free Recipes forTwo " by Joanne Stepaniak, Book Publishing Company, ISBN 1-57067-019-6 (I *think* VRG sells this one). Recipes are for two, but could easily be doubled. Again, lots of " practical " dishes good for the family. Some of the recipes were " kid-tested " and appeal to kids. I like the recipes in this book. _Vegan Handbook_ published by the Vegetarian Resource Group. A number of the recipes are 'kid tested.' I haven't really tried much in the way of recipes from this book. _Conveniently Vegan: Turn Packaged foods into Delicious Vegetarian Dishes_ by Debra Wasserman (I believe also for sale thru VRG) -- I haven't really used this much, but I have a friend who swears by it (she hates to cook).
