Guest guest
Hi, I am a lurker on this list (sorry!). I just wanted to mention that my husband and I became (mostly) vegan together, at his instigation. We both had been ovo-lacto vegetarians on and off throughout our lives, before and after meeting each other. We didn't eat a lot of dairy or eggs, but we did eat them. Last year we were ovo-lacto vegetarians, and my husband came across some articles on the internet that gave him the idea that he wanted to try veganism, but he couldn't do it without me since I am the shopper and cook. I wasn't ready yet, and he was okay with that, but I tried to cut down on eggs and dairy, and one day I realized we hadn't eaten any for a week or so and why not just keep going. Soon after that we went to an eco-fest, and the vegan literature I read there did more to convince me. I say we are " mostly " vegan because we do still eat honey. Our research hasn't (yet) convinced us to stop. And we do still allow our girls (2 and 4) to eat what they want if they are offered it as a guest in someone else's home, although they on their own are less and less likely to choose animal products. There has also been the very rare occasion when he or I have eaten something that had an egg or some dairy in it, mostly because my in-laws have such a tough time with the concept of veganism and make it so very difficult for us when we visit them. I spent many years being very religiously dogmatic, and I am done with that and don't want to be dogmatic about new choices in my life. Nice to meet you, Deirdre
