Guest guest
Well, as I had hoped, I worried prematurely about the breastfeeding jaundice. We went in for her recheck, and her bili level had dropped quite a bit. So the NP said not to worry, it can't be breastfeeding jaundice. Thank you all so much for all of your helpful info. It terrifies me when people say anything that might interfere with the breastfeeding, so I figured it would be best to be forewarned and forearmed if the docs wanted to take her off my milk. I think since she was 2 1/2 weeks early, her liver is probably more immature than normal, so it might take longer for the jaundice to completely resolve. But she looks fine now, and the doc is not concerned. Now I just have to deal with a somewhat painful plugged duct which led to a high fever for me. The fever is gone now (I'm on antibiotics) but the duct is still plugged. Thankfully, my hospital has an awesome lactation consultant who's helping me to resolve it, hopefully. Thanks again for all of your input. Leena
