Guest guest
Hello, I am sure this has been discussed before but I was just wondering . .. . We are a vegan family with a 3 year old and a 3 month old. Sara, the eldest, is now beginning to notice that other people eat meat and ask questions about this. When we visited Grandma and Grandpa she asked why Grandpa eats chicken while we were all eating at the table and spoke of not eating our friends because " WE are vegetarian " . I was very proud of her but sensed Grandpa's discomort - not too bad a thing I feel but what is an appropriate answer for a 3 year old as to why others eat meat? ****** For a compassionate world, gwynt Gwyn <><><>
Guest guest
I usually remind my kids ahead of time that when we will be eating at an omnivorous table that the other people there have different beliefs and values about animals, about food, about right and wrong. I remind them that these people are still our beloved family or friends despite our differences. I do know omnivores who have made their dietary choice consciously and thoughtfully, and I do find it difficult to find fault with their logic, although I still prefer our way of believing and eating...We are not comfortable criticizing others about their diet or letting our kids do so. We'd rather lead by example. You don't win anyone over by making them mad and defensive... ______________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
