Guest guest
In response to the multi-vitamin debate: I would like to remind everyone that pediatricians also recommend a multi-vitamin and flouride supplement for their meat eating patients. I have one child that is veggie and one that is not, and our pediatrician has reccommended the same supplements for both of them. In regards to the veggie baby he just asked about a varied diet and offered alternatives to meat if I felt strongly he was never to have it. I live in an area where if you don't fish and hunt you are strange, so I know it came as a surprise to my Dr. but if you voice your feelings about these things they will work with you. Guest guest
Here in Norway they also recommend flouride supplements for children due to their not being flouride in the drinking water. It is also common for kids to take a multivitamin supplement especially with vitamin D due to our lack of sun. Just about all Norwegians take Tran (cod liver oil) from babyhood and cannot believe that I don't! After my and my kids bout with low iron at anemic levels, this summer when I am in the US I am going to get good vitamin supplements for us containing iron because, as varied as our diet is, we aren't getting enough... Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have done extensive research on vitamins and nutrition. I own a small business dealing with it. It's true that you DO NOT need a multi-vitamin. Also true that meat eaters aren't as worried about their health as a general rule. All the facts that I've found say that in order to get all the vitamins and minerals that you need in one day that you would probably have to intake about 4,000 calories a day. This is just a guess on the average person but I know that I do not want to eat that much or even close to it. I take a multivitamin 3 times a day. Vitamins only last in your system for 4 hours....the water sol. kind. Regular vitamins are too high in iron, etc. to do this so it has to be one that is suppose to work that way. My whole point being...I'm lazy and do not want to count out everything I eat to be sure I am giving myself and family what I need in one day. I have 3 children (oldest being 11) and I have never went to a Ped. that encouraged vitamins, exactly the opposite, they think we don't need them! They only have pushed the flouride and I will not give my kids that due to too much is really a bad thing. Thanks for letting me air my beliefs! Guest guest
does anyone know of a good vitamin Company that does not use Gelatin in their vitamins? As I'm sure most of you know, gelatin is made from animal parts. We having a hard time find a good quality vitamin w.out gelatin. thanks, Alexa
Guest guest
I went to a large health food store in my area and found a multitude of vitamins marked " vegetarian. " None of them had gelatin in them. I purchased some labeled " Nature's Plus. " The company is actually Natural Organics Laboratories, based in Amityville NY.
