Guest guest
Hi- I have a queestion that I am hoping someone has some advice to help me out. I have a 15 month old boy who is having a hard time making the transition to " adult " food. He promptly spits out any textured food. He will eat his homemade babyfood with no problem, but anything with a diiferent texture he spits out. I am trying to be patient with him, but he just won't try anything with a different texture. He will ocassionally eat a cracker, and he loves spaghetti. That's it though. Any suggestions on how to make the transition smooth for everyone involved? Thanks in advance, Karen Get personalized email addresses from Mail http://personal.mail./
Guest guest
Karen, My son was a lot like that when he was a toddler. (He is almost 9 now). He is to this day a very selective eater; we don't force him to eat anything he can't handle, but in the last couple of years he has agreed to taste a good many new things...most of which he does not care for. I don't know what kind of home made baby food he prefers, but could you gradually puree it less and less? What about spreading it on little squares of bread? (My son liked hummus and other spreads this way). Maybe he just isn't ready to try anything new at this point, and will let you know if and when he wants a bite of what you're eating. I was relieved to learn that despite his limited diet, my son's nutritional intake was good--I had a nutritionist run his diet through a computer program to analyse it. Guest guest
Thanks Susan. I am going to try the little squares of bread tonight for dinner.
