Guest guest
Dear All, I have been a vegetarian for 16 yrs and I have two veg. kids. A few months ago I started to think that maybe I would be interested in eating a piece of salmon but I was not sure if I could really do it. DD went to Alaska 3 weeks ago and brought back a lot of salmon and I did give it a try but I did not care for it at all. Last Sunday he use blackening and cooked it on the stove top so I tried it again and it was very good. I think that I will try it again.I have been trying to increase my protein because of some health problems that I have always had so this has helped a little and I did feel good after I ate it. I do not at all feel that this is wrong or am I uneasy with this decision to eat the salmon and I do still think of my self as a veg.but I have been wondering am I .according to the definition of veg.I would not be.So than who am I? I stopped eating animals 16 yrs ago because I think that factory farming is just wrong and I was not going to support it with my dollors. But I do not have a problem with the many that I know that raise their own animals to eat, but I would not at all want to eat them. I have always thought that being a veg was a lot more that just not eating animals. That raising healthy and thinking kids and trying to walk as lightly on this earth as I can and teaching my girls to as well was also a part of being a veg. So who is a Vegatarian.Iam I? How would you feel? ..· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ Felice-:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´* " My darling girl, when are you going to understand that being normal isn't necessarily a virtue. Guest guest
Try to tune into to Animal Planet's segment on Alaskan salmon. I watched it last night and it was amazing and inspirational. 1 in 1000 of those adult salmon make it back to their birthplace to spawn and after seeing their tremendous desire to live and carry on, I don't see how killing them them to add protein to my diet could be justified. Just my thoughts. Jeannie
Guest guest
Hi, Sounds like your craving is your body telling you that you need something in the fish - essential fatty acids, maybe. I always believe in listening to the cravings of your body but I would not consider you a vegetarian if you ate fish. Fish are in the animal kingdom. Guest guest
The Toronto Vegetarian Association defines a vegetarian as someone who lives on a diet free of meat, fish and fowl with or without the addition of dairy or eggs. PS: A fish is not a vegetable.
Guest guest
My Dear Felise; you have chosen not to be a vegetarian. Either you eat flesh or you don't. The choice is all yours. You make the choice. eEting dead fleah can never be good for any sickness. Please don't kid yourself.
