Guest guest
The Washington Post did a feature on it in the food section a couple of months ago. (I'm sure you can find it in the archives.) The Post the FDA hadn't approved it yet in the States.

Liz- I haven't had any problems with it and neither have any of my family. We eat it quite often as it is the main meat substitute here in Switzerland. I do know that some people react to it here as well, but different people react to different things anyway. I keep wondering if the soy industry is feeling threatened about this product and is somewhat behind this? Guest guest
Not only is it not vegan, but a significant percentage of people get gastrointestinal problems after eating it. Do a websearch on " quorn " sometime for the details. I haven't looked into this for awhile. There was a big issue raised by the Center for Science in the Public Interest about how it was being " billed " as a mushroom product, when it's really a highly processed fungus product. Me? Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot carrot. FYI, Mark
Guest guest
Yes, I've heard horrible things about quorn. I tried it once and actually liked the taste, but I'm done with that!!!! Guest guest
Actually I've heard a lot of those studies about quorn were very biased and actually paid for by gardenburger or one of the other leading vegetarian brands. It's not vegan (so therefore, technically we shouldn't even be discussing it, lol) but when I've eaten it, I've NEVER had any problems. If I had a package to write the ingredients down, I would, but I rarely buy it (too expensive!). They do have a website though, if you want to look into it! (Quorn is incredibly high in fiber, that could cause problems in people who aren't used to it, couldn't it?)... -cherrie - Julie <jskabubble Wed, 1 Sep 2004 15:20:25 -0400 Re: Re: quorn Yes, I've heard horrible things about quorn. Guest guest
Hi Mark, Wednesday, September 1, 2004, 7:28:00 PM, you wrote: MS> Not only is it not vegan, but a significant percentage of people get MS> gastrointestinal problems after eating it. I am a lacto-veg (Hare Krishna actually and I used to eat Quorn many eons ago before I cut out eggs totally. Well I wouldn`t be able to eat it now even if I felt like it as it gave me the most appalling tummy aches. So I`m interested to hear I might not be the only one. DOWN with Quorn!!!
