Guest guest
As a matter of fact, I have a recipe that my son loved when he was teething: Knackbrod from The Vegan Handbook 1 c all-purpose flour 1 c graham flour 2 T sugar or other sweetener 1/2 t baking soda 1/2 t baking powder 8 oz commercial corn muffin mix (check for animal fat) 3 T soy butter or margarine 3/4 c milk Mix dry ingredients. Cut in butter. Add milk. Mix well. Roll thin, cut into shapes and bake 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees until brown. Guest guest
I found these recipe awhile ago and can't remember where...but it works well and they're easy to make.( I modified it a little and used rice flour at first because Evan was okay with rice:) Teething Biscuits Two versions (Quinoa or Amaranth): Quinoa: 1c. quinoa flour 1/2 c tapioca flour 3 tbsp. oil 1/2 c apple juice concentrate, thawed or Amaranth: 1 c amaranth flour 1/2 c arrowroot 3 tbsp oil 3/8 c pineapple juice concentrate, thawed Combine flour in a bowl. Mix the oil and juice together and stir into the flour. Knead dough to absorb all the flour and form a very hard dough. Roll dough to 3/8 " thickness. Roll out. Cut into 1 " by 3 " bars and put on lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until begin to brown. TURN OFF THE OVEN AND LEAVE THEM IN FOR 1 MORE HOUR. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen teething biscuits. Now, these are not sweet at all. On some I added brown sugar on the top to make my son appreciate them a little more. These are hard enough to grasp and hold onto....yet, they kinda dissolve as they chew on them. They are wonderful to tote around in the diaper bag as well. They don't crumble up everywhere. > > anissadn [anissadn] > Monday, October 08, 2001 6:23 PM > > Re: teething biscuits anyone? > > > Hi everyone, does anyone have a recipe for teething biscuits? thanks ! > Mrs. j > > >
Guest guest
Looks good except for one small problem. Introducing wheat (or any grain with gluten, IMO), dairy, corn and soy should all be delayed until after a year old, if at all possible, since they're common allergens. Finding teething biscuits without any of those was REALLY hard!!! We let my daugher gum EMM popsicles, that seemed to help some.
