Are these vegan, or do they contain casein? My husband will be SOOOO

happy if they are vegan AND melt!

Sheri,

These are vegan and they do not contain casein. You can get their pizza and

pizza bagels with the same cheese. They are available in some health food

stores and kosher stores as well.

Tofutti soy-cheese slices are in my opinion the best available! My kids

love them!! We are a family of 6 vegans. We are always on the lookout for

vegan foods, tofutti is the only sliced cheese we could find that does not

contain caesin. Our only problem is the only store that had it has closed

their doors, there is just not enough vegetarians in our area to keep them

open.

Peace & Love to all living beings,

That's a good question!! I've never thought of special ordering. I have

tried all our local health food stores, like Whole Foods, Gentle Strength &

Keils. I'll have to investigate. If anyone has info on where else to look,

please inform me!!

Also, does anyone know if you can buy it in blocks. I need some cheese to

shred for lasagne. Does anyone know a good brand (dairy-free) that comes in

blocks or already shredded?

Thanks

The Tofutti comes shredded in both white and yellow varieties. It's in a

reclosable pouch. I have not seen it in blocks.

I don't know much about block type, but I am sure that

I have seen some rice based mozzarella in my local

HFS.

Sorry I can't remember the brand.

Tofutti does make shredded cheese. My HFS carries a

cheddar and a mozzarella type. ( Now we can replace

those in my dd's tacos and pizza.) And i too am

planning to try it in Lasagna... as soon as I find the

time.

Just wanted to point this out if anyone is interested - I know some of you

eat refined sugar, some of you don't. Isn't the sugar that Tofutti uses in

their products white, animal bone processed sugar? I know I contacted them

once, and they said it was because their target selling group was mainly

people who could not eat dairy, like lactose-intolerant.

I also heard that Tofutti products are made with GMO soy... I don't have

confirmation on that, but my husband bought Tofutti Cuties once and there

was no " non-GMO " or " organic " label. (I also objected to the ingredient

list, and he ate them by himself...)
