Guest guest
>...there should be some sort of law against driving around with a >dead animal on the top of your car, what about all of the kids who get > upset at that? Hey, what about us _grownups_ who get upset at that? I'm not sure if it's better or worse than being on the highway and seeing animals being taken to slaughter. I HATE that. I guess I could try to convince myself that they're on their way to a farm sanctuary... As far as Parent mag, I really can't see them being all that concerned with what a couple of " wacko " parents think -- that the journalist's eye view of mainstream media. Out of curiosity, what were their suggested answers to the question? Also, I don't remember who suggested making eating animals seem silly for a toddler, but I tried it and it was a hit. We were at a local orchard with my daughter's class (2-year-olds) and they had some chickens and goats. We looked at the chickens and the kids made appropriate chicken noises and I asked if chickens were food -- " Do we EAT chickens? " Their answer, of course, was " Noooooooo " . ha ha. They found the concept extremely funny. This is actually a very good age to introduce this sort of thing, when they're into " silly " . (i.e. if they think " Do your socks go on your nose? " is hysterical, they're going to think the same thing about " Do we eat pigs? " ) Carol Mom to Lucia,
