Guest guest
I was very surprised and disappointed to read the suggestion of repeating an explanation from " The Lion King " , " As long as there have been animals, people have used them for food. " to " Why do we eat animals? " in the article " Inquiring minds want to know: How will you answer your child's tough questions " by Laurel Graber. Where was the answer, " We don't. They are our friends and feel pain just as we do. We don't need to eat them to live, so we eat plants and grains instead " ... Guest guest
Most of the western world views questions like these as requiring a quick derail in order to socialize children into what is perceived a standard accepted behavior and not as an opportunity to actually explore the question and teach children to think about the ramifications of our actions. It's convenience and conformity taking precedence over thoughtfulness and truth. Sorry for the run on sentence. Phil Welsher
