Guest guest
I have a fluoride question. I had decided not to supplement my children with this mineral. That is until my five year old went in for his SIXTH filling. There are probably several reasons that this occured. But the end result is that my husband INSISTS on supplementing. I don't agree, but I'm not willing to fall on my sword over this issue. So.....what sources do you know of, other than the Poly-Vi-Flor prescription, that I can turn to as a supplement? I've tried Whole Foods, but they had no options. Thanks, Linda
Guest guest
Do you have flouride in your drinking water? This can make a big difference. Guest guest
Fluoride is actually not good for the human body. There is a lot of data and references about this in the book Fit for Life by Harvey Diamond. I would not give it to your children and if you have it in your water, I would make sure you drink bottled water and use it for cooking, as well. Guest guest
I know fluoride is very controversial. I starting taking my children to a pediatric dentist starting at age 3 or 4 or so. They have a deal where every other cleaning is free, to encourage 4 visits a year. They treat the children's teeth with a flavored flouride foam. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but the kids (age 6 and 11) neither of whom brush very well, have had minimum dental problems (11 year old-has had one small filling). They also do a plastic coating on permanent molars as they come in. Who knows if this is a healthy practice in the long run, either. I just know we need all the help we can get because we aren't diligent in the teeth-care area! It is sweetened with saccharin and or other artificial sweeteners. I opted not to give it to my son for that and the additional floride issue. Just wanted to share that info.
