Guest guest
I know this was talked about before, but I didn't have a baby then, so I wasn't paying attention! This winter I think my currently 8 month old might have occasion to wear shoes? Like if someone wants to set her down outside? Maybe not, but just in case, I thought I'd ask you all what types of shoes you've found to be best for the under 3 crowd. We don't do leather, or I'd use those cool looking soft flexible moccasins (ro-beez?) that I've seen some alternative moms with. They're soft and flexible, but just provide some waterproofness and cover for the socked feet. But those are leather. What have any of you liked? Thanks! Guest guest
I actually have found great shoes for my kids (now 1 and 3) at either Payless, Target or Wal Mart! You have to look carefully - but you can find some great, soft, man-made materials in baby and kids shoes. And at great prices! I just found a beautiful pair of black shiny dress shoes for my one year old daughter - made by Buster Brown at Wal Mart. Good luck! leena [leena] Friday, November 09, 2001 8:53 AM baby shoes I know this was talked about before, but I didn't have a baby then, so I wasn't paying attention! Guest guest
I have been buying nonleather baby shoes when I find them, although my baby is only 8 weeks old and won't be wearing them for awhile. I just found some great very hip, black shoes and boots at Children's Place. I was given a pair of nice leather boots from a friend and I'm not sure how to approach the situation of leather gifts. I was just polite and accepted them although I don't plan on him wearing them. tera Visit: http://didi-mao.tripod.com, www.peta.com, www.fight4choice.com
Guest guest
I used shoes I bought online from Natural Baby http://store./naturalbaby/cotcormodmox.html until the last month or two. My son is 21 mo. and he's been walking since 12 mo. These shoes are like 'padders', but they don't have the leather sole. Most of the time he goes barefoot unless it is cold enough for him to keep them on. When my husband's brother sent Parker some outfits that had leather or pictures we didn't agree with (fishing or cowboy type stuff) we said thanks and gave them to Goodwill or sold them at a local resale shop. When Parker was first born I sent out a list of things we like (wooden toys, organic clothing, etc.) and things we try to avoid (plastic, toy guns, etc.) or do not have in our house (milk, meat, silk, wool, leather, etc.) to our closest family members. I included links to webites, phone numbers, catalogs, etc. My family has been great (for the most part...they do buy plastic toys for Parker to play with at their house), but my husband's dad took it as an insult. Dh's dad said 'I was going to buy one of those things that go in the car (carseat), but it was plastic.' and all sorts of other comments. Anyway, I would say it worked well and I remind the family and friends again around Parker's birthday or the holidays. This cuts down on the amount of gifts we have to return or give away. Guest guest
We love bare feet! You may want to check out http://www.unshod.org/pfbc/ about the benefits of allowing children to go barefoot. Daniela
Guest guest
Thank you Daniela, that was a fascinating site. In my babies' infancy and toddlerhood I knew it was important for them to be barefoot most of the time, but until reading this site I didn't realize how vital it can be throughout their childhoods. It also made me look at my own societal views toward barefootedness. Interesting! We will all be going barefoot a lot more from now on! My 2 year old just hates shoes and gosh darn it I am not going to make it an issue anymore Bonnie , daniela_daniela@l... wrote: > We love bare feet! > You may want to check out http://www.unshod.org/pfbc/ about the > benefits of allowing children to go barefoot. > > Daniela
