Guest guest
I agree with Mitzi, that the Sears' books, starting with " The Baby Book " , is a great gift for a mainstream family. The problem with " Mothering " magazine is that it is very radical, to the point of being shrill, which can turn off newcomers to the information presented. Also, the information in the Sears' books is more grounded in fact, and they are better at reminding the reader that there's no such thing as perfect knowledge....that ultimately you are the best judge of what is right for your child, no matter what the experts (on any side of the fence) suggest. It's a more gentle and supportive introduction, in my opinion. Liz
