Guest guest
Does anyone know of any homeschooling resources (books or websites or anything!) related to vegetarianism? Guest guest
Hi Melanie, I am new to this mailing list, a homeschooling mom of 4 children ages 1 - 5 1/2. I have checked out many homeschool websites and don't recall seeing anything specifically related to vegetarianism. Here is an address for " The Link: the Nation's Homeschool Newspaper " - www.homeschoolnewslink.com - they might know something there. Most of what we do is more of an " unschooling " approach, so we talk a lot at mealtimes about what we are eating and why, also the negative effects of eating animal products. We go on field trips to the AZ Science Center and the Heart Center, a program of our local American Heart Association. We have done some hands on activities to show what would happen if more people ate beans/grains instead of feeding them to animals and eating the animals. I have recently heard of a book called " Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving " by Dav Pilkey, which has a vegetarian bent, and received the following poem on another mailing list. Hope this helps! Anne in AZ Point of View Thanksgiving dinner's sad and thankless Chistmas dinner's dark and blue When you stop and try to see it From the turkey's point of view. Sunday dinner isn't sunny Easter feasts are just bad luck When you see it from the viewpoint Of a chicken or a duck. Oh how I once loved tuna salad Pork and lobsters, lamb chops too Till I stopped and looked at dinner From the dinner's point of view.
