Might you

be or

be able to help me find

some musicians

1) who are themselves practicing vegetarians and

2) who sing and/or compose music?

Here is the volunteer opportunity WRITE-UP from www.VolunteerMatch.org

Singers of Vegetarian Values Music

Vegetarian Resource Center

Details

The singers of music which supports aspects of vegetarian values: health,

humane, heuristic, social, environmental, etc. will perform songs and other

vocal works telling either the vegetarian and pro-vegetarian communities about

our lives as vegetarians, or the general public about the many benefits of

committing oneself to plant-based diets.

Skills

REQUIRED

Ability to sing clearly and pleasantly, to read music, to sight sing, and to

harmonize with other vocalists and with instrumentalists.

WISH LIST

Ability to compose music from poems or from ideas or information about

vegetarian, humane, ecological, or vegetarian-supporting themes.

An example of this ability to compose singable music would be:

I give you a medical article about the nutrients in cruciferous vegetables.

You read the article several times and digest it, discuss it with me and/or

others, then mull it around, poeticizing the thoughts as you go about your day.

Within a few weeks you have a song or two or three about

what cruciferous " cross-bearing " vegetables are;

a few examples or illustrations of what vegetables are cruciferous vegetables

(cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, etc.);

the indoles, other phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients in

the cruciferous vegetables;

perhaps some visual commentary on one or more of them

(e.g. broccoli looks like little trees - its fun for kids to eat a forest of

broccoli;

cauliflower looks like a brain with lots of " white matter " -- it's smart to eat

cauliflower;

how to play with one's food;

make jokes about the vegetables; etc.)

When you volunteer, please both

(1) fill out the VolunteerMatch.org form AND

(2) send an e-mail directly to Maynard with some ideas of how

you have done this kind of work in the past and how you've been successful with

it.

Attaching a copy of your relevant resume would also be helpful, if you have one.
