Guest guest
Debbie, I don't have an answer about what to get him but - and don't take this the wrong way - but yours was the FUNNIEST post I have ever read here. I laughed SO hard! Then, I thought, I shouldn't tell you that because you might be offended but upon more reflection, I thought perhaps that is the answer...don't get mad...laugh! This is hysterical! A big fat salami! OMG!!??!! Does life with carnivores get any more humorous than this? It is AMAZING what we have to put up with in a meat-eating world...He is old and he is your father and he is a meat-eater...he won't get it...ever. Get him nuts and have yourself a good giggle about this. Lisa
Guest guest
Lisa, How dare you laugh at me... LOL... just kidding seriously I am not in the least bit offended. I'm glad you got a good laugh out of it. I was quite upset at the time of writing that post but I did look back at it and I do agree it was pretty funny. And it is funny to think that a salami could be that important to anyone...meateater or not. I did need to just laugh at it a bit. Thanks to everyone for your replies. It helped.... at least for my morale... A can not, will not... and don't even feel the need to try to change dear old Dad. I know that gift certificates or a vegan version of his " hearts desire " will offend him more than not giving him what he asked for. I don't even think that an explaination or reason will make any sort of a positive difference. So I think that this will be another one of those pretend it never happened things and take a deep breath before reponding should anyone bring it up during our family gathering. In other words, I'm not giving it to him ...and.... I'm not even going to pass on his request to my sibs...Which is what I would normally do if he had asked for something else which I was unable to obtain for him for whatever the reason. I wash my hands of this...unless forced to deal with it then.... deep breath in...hold one, two, three, four,five..... exhale slowly..... two, three, four, five. Speak.
