Guest guest
Hi- Okay, so I think I already know the answer to this one, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway. Is it morally wrong, as a person who believes in animal rights, to have a fish as a pet? I mean, the poor fish are incacerated in a small living space only for my viewing pleasure. I ask this, because a relative brought it up as a gift for my son. After I thought about it, I began to think it was a bad idea. Any thoughts, opinions? Guest guest
We don't have fish as pets and we don't get them as prizes on the carnival midway. We have a dog but she is a rescue from the race track - she was going to be killed. We do not support dog breeding, buying dogs/cats/animals from stores - only shelter rescues. I think it is definitely a peripheral issue of vegetarianism/veganism. Lisa
Guest guest
About keeping fish as pets, I believe it is morally wrong not because you have the fish but because you are creating a market for the sale of pet fish. No matter how " natural " or " enjoyable " you make life for your pet fish, you should remember that it is replaced in a store by another fish ready to sell. Know also that for every fish that is successfully sold at a store 5 fish must die, in transport and through improper care and feeding prior to sale.
