Guest guest
Hey! Thanks for the tip. I checked the website, and saw a huge variety of cream " cheeses " , but I didn't see anything like soy-Mozzarella, or soy-cheddar... Does anyone know if these kinds of cheese exist in a dairy free version?? (I'm hooked on quesadillas....) Thanks! ~ Juli PS - I LOVE tofutti ice cream! Guest guest
Yes, yes some of them do. This particular line by Galaxy is casinate free, it's 100% Vegan. I was at the grocery store yesterday, picking up a couple of things and decided to see if they had some of the Vegan Cheese. They did and I came home and made a grilled cheese sandwich with it. It melted great. Tastes a little powdery, but pretty good. -Stefany ________ I just looked at that web page and remember seeing some of those at the hfs and some have casinate in them, a milk protein, so beware!! ;-) Jo-Ann

Guest guest
My husband and I have decided that vegan cheese is ok if you eat it in combination with other goodies and without highlighting it. I have been a real chicken (pardon the pun) about trying a lot of the " fake " vegan products out there, especially the vegan " cheeses. " But recently we tried the veganrella " mozzerella " in a fabulous manicotti recipie-- it was very good mixed with extra firm tofu, fresh spinach and basil. (If anyone wants the recipie, I'd be happy to send it along!) We didn't use much of it, but it did add a little dimension to the dish without tasting... well... like vegan cheese! I have only tried eating slices on a sandwich or melted on a pizza a couple of times-- I have to agree that the experience was not pleasant. I think the problem is that when you eat it like one typically eats dairy cheese, you kind of expect it to taste like dairy cheese and, well, it doesn't. Don't take my word for it though, definitely try some out for yourself (I know people who love it!) before you decide. I've seen Tofutti slices, Veganrella slices and serveral more at my grocery. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi David, Congratulations on becoming vegan! I'm a recent vegan too. I went macrobiotic first, then vegetarian, and finally took the plunge into veganism. I have tried 3 brands of soy milk and found I don't like the texture of Silk, but I really love Soy Sun vanilla and EdenSoy Extra vanilla. I find I like the vanilla flavors better than original. What are your questions about tofu? Do you eat fresh vegetables & fruits with those crackers & veggie margarine? You don't have to eat or drink anything you don't like just because it's vegan. There are all kinds of things you can make with beans, rice, pasta, vegetables, and fruits.
