Guest guest
I like both morningstar and Boca products. My health food store notified customers that Boca has been purchased by Kraft and mentioned GMO's. My questions: what are GMO's? I get the impression they don't " affect " me? What am I looking for? Love the correspondence of dinner ideas-dinner tonight: Nachos with all the fixings-vege ofcourse:)
Guest guest
GMOs are genetically modified organisms. There are lots of different issues with them and people who think they are fine and people who think they pose a threat to health. From a purely vegetarian or vegan standpoint it is a tough issue because a GMO may have DNA from an animal. Thus, we would never know what was truly animal product free. From a health standpoint there are issues with allergies and also the lack of testing. From an environmental standpoint there is the possibility of negatively affecting the environment in a way that we could not ever predict. At this time, in the US, organic products can not be GMO. Another reason to look for organic (in my opinion). There is quite a bit to discuss here, but I just thought I'd drop you a quick note.
