Guest guest
Well, thanks to all the replies from this list, I got curious and asked a few friends around the country. Seems my local community is unique in how the restaurants only refer to one type of roll as a spring roll. I never wondered about it before, because of course they all have their own names in the original languages, so it made sense to me. But apparently the national norm is to refer to all sorts of Asian rolls under the same name. One person opined that maybe it was any roll made with a rice flour wrapper, but several others had examples to negate that theory. It seems to be a catch-all phrase. Guess you learn something new every day, huh?? <g> Thanks for the heads-up, Liz
