Guest guest
I dropped pounds fast after about a month of vegetarianism. A then, BAM I seemed to gain it all back, but it was fluid, not weight. I am going to the doctor to find out why my legs/ knees etc are so swollen. I don't eat salt and have been eating alot of raw veggies and fruits. I am in a weight management class and I had fluid in the knees prior to the class since age 18. THe young teacher had us walk from 5 laps the first time to 11 laps the second time and I did it and continued to walk-you know grocery shopping etc. So, then Saturday my body was so swollen I couldn't do anything. Even now I am swollen up in pain. I feel like I am doing my part but failing. I am eating right, with no junk foods only good stuff like trail mix, fresh fruit, fruit smoothies made with soy milk and eating dried berries. It almost feels like I will never lose anything, even though I saw my body drop several lbs-not sure if it was more than 5 lb's but I couldn't fit into my clothes anymore, to now fitting perfectly back into them. What foods could I eat to help me lose fluids. I'm sure the doctor will prescribe more fluid pills, but what can I do naturally? I'm tired of being heavy and from eating right, I want to see some progress.
Guest guest
I don't know about eating specific foods to lose fluids, but drinking lots of water will do the trick. I know it sounds like it wouldn't work, but in fact, increasing water intake does aid the body in flushing out excessive fluids. This has definitely worked for me. Your doctor should determine the cause of the swelling before he just prescribes more fluid pills. Are you drinking lots of pure water? Be sure to keep eating lots of vegetables for potassium. Wish I could give you more ideas. But you should find a doc who will determine what is causing the swelling. Do you have any medical conditions? What did the doctor say? <<I am eating right, with no junk foods only good stuff like trail mix, fresh fruit, fruit smoothies made with soy milk and eating dried berries.>> A lot of trail mix is salty, and virtually all of them have a lot of fat (from the nuts). If you eat dried fruits then drink a lot of liquids that can be quite uncomfortable (the fruit rehydrates in your stomach). Still, it does sound like there might be a medical situation to deal with, not simply a nutritional one. Liz
