Guest guest
Ooh, I know this one! We learned it in 8th grade science, and I've been mystified by vitamin D supplements ever since. The average person needs the equivalent of five minutes of sunshine on their hands and face every day, or half an hour a week. I mean... who can't get that? (Ok, the darker your skin is the longer you need to go out, and in winter it's a little harder to get the best rays, but still, it seems like you'd have to work pretty hard to get rickets.) --- wrote: ______ > > Message: 2 > Fri, 15 Feb 2002 09:06:23 -0500 > " Carol McClure " <sunshine33 > Re: B12 > > My husband feels very strongly about the children > getting all their nutritional needs met through > eating a healthy variety of natural foods. Guest guest
Great! We can easily manage that even in the lowest temperatures here. Ok, no more wondering if we're getting enough. (Still, I eagerly await Spring.........) Thanks for sharing that! - Boko Dasu Tuesday, February 19, 2002 10:05 AM Re: Digest Number 351 Ooh, I know this one! Guest guest
Sharon, congratulations on your decision to a healthier you! It must be worth it! I have no experience with asthma as such, but can say something about your other questions. First of all I suggest to view your change not just as a change of diet, but as a change of life style altogether. We all have eaten a lot of things that turned out to make us ill, or at least tired and run down, until we have reached the point where we said, enough is enough, I don't want to live like that any more. I could if I wanted to, but I want to change into a better life. So that's your starting point, right? I have been raw for only a few months now, but I feel a lot better. There are two items in my kitchen I could not do without. 1. My food processor. I find eating raw food involves a lot of chewing, hell of a lot more than one is used to. I let the machine be my " mother's little helper " in that respect. I blend nuts or seeds with vegetables and all sorts. I use it every day. A good book to start with recipes is Kate Wood, Eat smart, eat raw. I think it's brilliant 2. My dehydrator. I am a biscuit monster. I love biscuits and anything dry crunchy. With my dehydrator I can create my favourite tastes ( in the food processor) and turn them into crackers with all enzymes intact. This is my definite comfort food. always available for that quick nibble.Sweet or savoury, always irresistible...and fat free!, well, no added fat, just the natural fats in nuts and seeds etc. With your condition I would also experiment with vegetable juices. Read Norman walker Fresh fruit and vegetable juices, a must read! And get into juicing. Putting it briefly, juices get absorbed instantly, and the energy gained from them can be used by the body for repair within the body. That's what you need, isn't it? Sharon, I wish you good luck with your new you.
