Berries work well for coloring. You may have to

experiment (with strawberries, cranberries &

raspberries) in different proportions to get the color

you want.

Natural Food Coloring

Hi-

Does anyone know where to get natural food coloring?

I know this was posted awhile ago, and someone

recommended Gaiam.com, but they don't seem to offer it

anymore. My son is having a Fire Truck birthday

party, and he wants a fire truck birthday cake. I

absolutely do not want to use red food coloring. I

thought of beet juice, but I think it may turn out to

pink looking. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Karen

Thanks to all the suggestions for my natural red food

coloring. I did take someone's suggestion and go to

Dancing Deer, but I could not find natural food

coloring there. I will experiment with beet juice,

and berry juice.

Thanks!

I also wernt to Dancing Deer and didn't see the food coloring listed.

I took the extra step and called the toll free phone #. They do have some

sets of coloring for sale only over the phone now. They are adding to the

colors and will have the food coloring back on line in the future.

I also suggested that they look into having vegan items available. The only

vegan item they have is the gingerbread house mixes.

Call them, they are very helpful.

Peace,

Laura

I bought the natural food coloring from gaiam.com, and I've only tried the

red so far - and I used the whole jar for white icing, and it turned out

slightly tinted pink at best. Maybe the other colors will work better.
