Guest guest
This is in response to Yamani at the day care center. OUr daughter has been vegetarian since birth. While it is true it is difficult for a toddler to understand being different it is not impossible. We were part of a daycare where gelatin squiggles was served frequently. She would say why can't she have it. So we showed her a horse and showed her it's feet and explained to her that's where it comes from and in our family we do not eat things which come from animals. We never softened the truth about what meat was because of her age. I think it is important to start talking to your toddler - no matter how young he/she is about meat and where it comes from. Even pre 2 years old many of the other toddlers were being taken to Mc Donalds. We told our daughter in simple language that McDonalds kills cows. Cows are our friends. We don't eat our friends. It is just a matter of explaining it to them on their level. Simple - to the point and unhidden. Maybe we were lucky but today our daughter is a healthy 8 year old with a clear understanding of what it means to be vegetarian and is very proud to be one. The other children sometimes get on her case but I believe that due to teaching her from the beginning why we believe what we believe, she will stand strong throughout her life with her vegetarian beleif system. Good luck to you Yamani and continue to be strong. Guest guest
We've tried to explain meat to our daughter but she just doesn't seem to get it. . If you ask her if she wants to eat rice, she says yes & laughs. If you ask her if she wants to eat a cow, she says yes and laughs. If you ask her if she wants to eat the dog, she says yes amd laughs. If you ask her if she wants to eat her brother, she says yes and laughs. GAHHHHHHHHH. Right now, she's sorting out who eats meat, rather than why. " Mommy eat meat? " " No, mommy doesn't eat meat. " " Mimom eat meat? " " Yes, mimom eats meat " . " Doggy eat meat? " " Yes, the doggies eat meat " . That sort of thing. She occasionally insists that we do eat meat, even though we never have. Guest guest
Thanks for posting - that Crockpot Veggie Chicken with/ " Cream Cheese " looks great! I noticed the recipe said to set the crockpot on med-high. My crockpot has a low setting or a high setting, but not a medium setting. Which one should I use? I just got my crockpot and have only made two dishes so far, so still learning! Thanks for any thoughts :-) Amanda _______________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
The original recipe used frozen chicken and had it on high. I'd say you could put it on high if you're using something frozen, or use it on low if you aren't, and just watch it the first time you make it to see how that goes. -cherrie , " Amanda Beckwith " <lovethecold@h...> wrote: > Thanks for posting - that Crockpot Veggie Chicken with/ " Cream Cheese " looks > great!
