Guest guest
Wow, thanks to all you caring and very creative moms. Living in a small town leaves a bit to be desired in the craft shopping (maybe I am just being lazy). I do receive the Hearthsong catalog and should have thought to look in places like that--again, just being lazy. Thanks for all the great ideas that have stirred visions of painting and stickering the rest of the cold KY afternoons away!! Re: meat-eating spouses-- Keara when my husband and started dating, he was a total goat!!! He had no ideals on nutrition but I had many on that issue and others that started great conversations. There where times when I thought my " weirdness " would scare him off. One thing my husband has is an open and loving mind. We have been married for over 4 years now and 2 children of our own (who are veggie), along with my 9 yo from a previous relationship who is also veggie. I never pushed my husband into anything (because no one can) I simply ate how I did before we married, never offered to cook meat or eggs and he has not asked nor complained, and backed-up my reasons as thoughtfully as I could whenever questions arose. My husband is now the unofficial spokesperson for our veggie family ( he still occasionally indulges in eating meat and eggs when my carnivorous father is proding) answering questions of friends and co-workers that are simply curious to know how to eat this way. He also juices fruits and veggies nearly each morning before work, helps me understand why some people make the comments they do, is the official smoothy king for our home, is the most supportive father of breastfeeding I know, and orders tofu with his curry at our favorite Thai restaurant. I think what my situation boils down to is that I lead by example and his open mind allowed good things to enter for making a positive change in his life. Maybe if the wierdness had scared him off it would be for a good reason. I think that because you are a loving, caring person and mother that you would make the same type of choice in a partner for yourself. Thanks for letting me share this with you and many blessings.
