Guest guest
I'm wondering if anyone here knows if most fast-food pizza crusts are vegan or not. I haven't had 'em in 3 years,, unless homemade or vegan/organic crusts from the healthfood store, but a few other vegan friends do eat cheeseless delivery pizza. I called Dominoes and Pizza Time and was told their crusts contained whey, but that was from the mouth of the 18-year-old-dork answering the phones. Guest guest
Little Ceasers, Papa John's, and Chuck E Cheese all have vegan crusts and sauces. The Vegetarian Resource Group publishes a guide to fast food that lists what is vegan or vegetarian. You can order it from them at their Website: www.vrg.org > " trinjoy " <trinanddave > > > pizza question >Thu, 28 Mar 2002 20:32:06 -0000 > >I'm wondering if anyone here knows if most fast-food pizza crusts are >vegan or not. The Papa John's and Ledo pizza chains in our area have told us they don't have any animal products in their crusts or tomato sauce. Last time I checked, Dominoes' crust was not vegan, and I believe Pizza Hut sauce is neither vegan nor vegetarain -- it has beef flavoring in it. It really varies from chain to chain. ---- Patricia Bullington-McGuire <patricia The brilliant Cerebron, attacking the problem analytically, discovered three distinct kinds of dragon: the mythical, the chimerical, and the purely hypothetical. Guest guest
I don't know what's in your area, but The Vegetarian Resource Group has a guide for fast food establishments that includes some listings for pizza places. According the this guide, the following use vegan crusts: Godfather's Pizza, Little Caesars, Mazzio's Pizza (thin and original crusts), Papa John's (original crust), Pizza Hut (thin 'n crispy crust), Pizza Pro, Pizzeria Uno (thin crust, deep-dish crust can apparently be ordered without cheese), and Shakey's Pizza. The 18-yr-old answering the phone at Domino's is right, their crusts contain whey. Guest guest
Meatless Meals for Working People has a list of vegan and vegetarian items found in fast food chains. Also, Vegetarian Resourse Group has an updated version of this list (every year I think). I think that I read that their regular sauce is vegan, but their is another sauce that has beef flavoring in it. Sara
Guest guest
No, Pizza Hut has removed the beef from their sauce, according to the VRG. Sandra
