Did anyone else hear on NPR earlier this wek the piece about " Quorn " ? " Quorn "

is the biggest product here in Europe for vegetarian things suck has burgers,

nuggets, dogs etcetera. It is trying to start up there in the US but is still

waiting for approval. All the products are really yummy, but I would imagine

that the soy industry wouldn't be happy for it to come there as it is derived

from a fungus rather than soy. I just finished having Quorn " tuna " for lunch

- delicious!!!

Yes, I heard it here in the states.

I'm still calling them and asking for them to make it vegan. They told me

they have no plans for that in the near future.

Peace,

Laura

I just read about it in a health magazine. According to the article, the line

of meat-free foods is supposed to be available at stores and restaurants across

the US by mid-2002. However, Quorn foods aren't vegan -- they do contain a

small amount of egg and dairy.

I missed the piece on NPR, but if it was truly an NPR show, I will get the

transcript.

Fresh Fields has been carry these products since January. I usually don't

eat or like fake meat products, but I had to try this stuff since I had

heard so much about them. I used the hamburger-style crumbles in marinara

sauce and it was terrific. Since my toddler was starving, I didn't even

saute them with onion or let it blend with the sauce very long before

serving. I was shocked by how good it was; no weird after taste!

I also tried the chunks of chicken and the chicken nuggets. I would say the

products were very good, because they totally creeped me out and I couldn't

really eat them. It tasted and felt just like chicken to me. My son

wouldn't eat it at all; he's been veg since birth.

So, if you are looking for a fake meat product and you are NOT vegan,

definitely try this product. It's really, really " good. "

Actually, it's here in the US already. I bought some " chicken " in March,

but haven't tried it yet.
