Guest guest
Hi folks. I'm new to the list. I live in Eastern Ontario in the country, next door to a family run dairy farm. My husband is a Dairy Herdsman on another farm. We are smack dab in the middle of " cow " country with a 1/2 dozen or so pig and egg farms thrown in for good luck. I'd like wish Megan all the best in her new home. First homes are always special. And for the no time to cook gal, OAMC (once a month cooking) is a wonderful to stock up on meals without having to rush around to prepare one every night. In the summer I do one or two cool days of cooking so I can just reheat in the microwave. Although, to me, any summer cooking, even two days a month is too much. I hate the heat and am a fall and winter person. I also buy pre-packaged salads and coleslaw during the really hot days, throw in a chopped up tomato, cucumber and some dressing and presto, lunch in less than 5 minutes. Hummus is great. Even out little out of the way village has a wide variety of flavours. Personally I like the good old original with garlic bread. Sometimes I mix 1/2 hummus with 1/2 olive paste. That is great. I make the olive paste by throwing a drained jar of stuffed Kalmata olives in the blender along with a generous shake of cayenne. Whirl it around till smooth adding a touch of lemon juice if I need it. It's great on whole wheat crackers or as a compliment to any other dip.
