Guest guest
Hi Lindsay, Many, many moms find that they simply must nurse their babies to sleep and some, like yourself find that they get tired of doing it. It sounds like your baby LOVES the nursing time with you and feels like thisis a very special part of the day!! There is a great book called MOTHERING YOUR NURSING TODDLER by Norma Jane Bumgarner that really addresses toddler's nursing needs. Practical, reassuring, informative, and supportive book for the mother of a nursing toddler. Emphasizes meeting child's needs. Discusses importance of breastfeeding relationship, natural weaning, temporary changes in lifestyle, society's expectations vs. child's and family's needs. The review was taken from www.lalecheleague.org On a personal note, all 3 of my children nurse/ed to sleep at nap and nighttime. I always plan my trips around nap time or nighttime or take the baby with in a sling. That is not always feasible and does not work for everyone, but it works for me and the babies. They know I am there for them and they fully trust me. As they got/get older, they learn that others can help them too. For a brief period in time, I am everything to the babies and I cherish that. I remind myself often that the nest will not always be so full and I might not always be so needed. For now, I will be mommy, get my few minutes of me time when I can and watch for cues of when my children need me and when they don't. Whew. I wish it all came with a sure-fire manual, but then that might take the challenge out of it. Thanks for letting me be philosphical and I hope you find a way that works for your family.
