Guest guest
You can use tvp in any recipe that would use ground meats. So, it works well for sauces, soups, stews, and there are even recipes for balls and patties (though I've never tried that). Sandra
Guest guest
Thanks Lindsay!! I've used it in sloppy joes, and here's a recipe I made up that my family loves!!! I don't have a name for it so we call it TVP rolls 1 cup TVP (dry) 7/8 cup water 1/2 red onion (use 1 if you prefer or save the other half for the salad) salt, pepper rice parmesan garlic powder italian seasoning egg roll wraps Mix theTVP and water and set aside Brown 1/2 red onion (or whole if you prefer) in a little oil or cooking spray, add TVP mix, add salt, pepper, rice parmesan, garlic powder, italian seasoning (I don't use measurements just use what you think looks good.) After the mix is warm/browned, roll 1 tbsp full into an egg roll wrap, roll once, fold in sides, and finish rolling. Pour a little spaghetti sauce on bottom of 9x13 pan, lay rolls on top, pour remaining sauce (homemade or jarred) on top of rolls. cook at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. We have this with a large salad with cucumber, tomato, other half red onion, and broccoli in it. If I can think of more, I'll send them. Right now, I just play around with it. I have another good recipe for taco salad if anyone wants it STacy Lindsay Shields <foxl99 Monday, April 15, 2002 7:48 AM Re: tvp >Stacy, the TVP I have (Bob's Red Mill) is gluten free, and per serving (1/4 cup >dry) contains:no fat, no cholesterol,2mg sodium,80 calories,594mg potassium,7g >carbs,4g dietary fiber,3g sugar,12g protein, >No vit C or vit A >Calcium 8% >Magnesium 18% >Phosphorus 17% >Iron 15% >All based on 2000 cal diet >Hope this helps!
