Guest guest
I had this problem with my daughter as well at this age. SHe could hold a water bottle (sport style, with the squirt top) and would ONLY drink water our of sport type water bottles... but it took a while until we realized it was the type of cup she wanted to drink from (basically not a 'baby' sippy cup). Can you son hold a cup/water bottle on his own? many a small sized one? it might help for him to have a 'specail' cup just for water.. and make sure you drink water with hi - i found that helped too (i use to not drink enough and never realized it) ~Kris , " admartin " <admartin@s...> wrote: > My 18 month old toddler refuses to drink water. I've tried mixing the water in with pure, not- from-concentrate juices (orange, apple, pineapple, and grape) but he's not crazy enough about juice to drink a sufficient supply of water in this way. I'm still nursing him about 3 times a day but his pediatrician agrees that he needs to drink more water, especially because of the heat. Sometimes his urine has a strong smell to it and recently I've noticed dark circles under his eyes, symptoms that I believe are due to insufficient water. Do any of you have tips on how to encourage a toddler to drink more water? Thanks! > > >
Guest guest
POPSICLES! We lived in Papua New Guinea for almost two years where it is VERY hot year round, and my toddler lived on popsicles. Guest guest
I am having this problem with my five year old whose urine is considered concentrated by the doctors. She loves tea-(Southern) and likes everything but water. I hate the taste of water too, but am really, really trying to drink at least two large cups a day. I was the type that could go 8 hours without drinkng a single thing, so it's hard for me to force myself to drink anything, let alone water. But, my daughter will drink water if it's in a bottle. I buy bottled water because our local water tastes like chlorine and so that it saves me money vs. the machine at the University. So, I am thinking of stocking up on bottle water for her. I've told her she can have one glass of tea a day, the rest has to be water. Unfortunately, she is holding out. So, hopefully she will cave. Good Luck, hope both of our kids start drinking it. Guest guest
My 22 month-old son is very picky about drinking water too. It HAS to be in be bottled water that comes with a " sports " top. There are a couple of companies that bottle water with sports tops in the small size now. His drinks all have to be in certain cups -- soy milk in his regular sippy cups, juice in the Gerber sports bottle, water in the bottle it came in with a sports top. They aren't, of course, like the sports bottles made for kids (i.,e, spill-proof), but he might like the novelty, especially if you drink one just like he does. Guest guest
My kids love water, so I don't know if this would help, but how about flavored sod free seltzer? I have a friend who sweetens it with stevia to make " soda " , too. Sandra
