Guest guest
Ahhhh, ants and mosquitos ... my nemeses!! Here in subtropical Florida, nothing works on either pest. For mosquitos I tried eating garlic and reducing sweets. I tried one of those bracelets - mosquitos would land on it! Though it worked perfectly in Ecuador. I tried neem tree sprays, Green Ban (tested in the Australian Rain Forest, but not the Florida Backyard), Herbal Armour. I tried sunblocks with citronella (Origins, then made my own, but the I realized I've never had a serious problem with bugs *and* sun, since mosquitos generally come out at dusk, so the combination was a waste of money). I tried citronella oil sprays and candles. Not onyl did these things not work on mosquitos, they didn't work on gnats and no-see-ums, either. For fire ants outside, nothing worked other than a good rainy season. Droughts brought them up to the surface. I tried all the suggestions but they were all for other kinds of ants, i guess. And nothing stopped them from biting once they got on you. My son would toddle right onto an anthill and before I could get them all off he'd have 10 bites in 5 seconds. For the black ( " crazy " ) ants and ghost ants that come into my home, nothing really works, either. I cleaned and sprayed with vinegar, with citrus, with tea tree. I wiped down with hot pepper, ginger oil, and anything else in the kitchen that seemed remotely reasonable.... And while I'm on the subject, nothing worked for roaches, either. Chinese chalk, boric acid, etc. And my vegan principles abandoned me when I woke up to a **roach crawling into my ear.** I called Pest Control the next day. Now I'm in a home that's thankfully bug-free. But you never know when they'll decide to come in....
