I've been pregnant and/or nursing since 1995, and my teeth are fine. I

do, however, keep an eye on my calcium intake - now that I'm pregnant

again, I take a calcium supplement (at a different time from my

prenatals, since they can interfere with each other). We do have an

increased calcium requirement, and will lose calcium from our bones

(and, I suppose, teeth) to provide calcium for the baby. The good news

is that eventually, when we are all done, it will be replaced. In the

meantime, I suggest you make sure you are getting enough calcium.

Sorry about the fillings ... what a nuisance. I hope it goes easily!

My personal theory is that I have lots of cavities because my own hygeine

was shot to hell after having kids. I'd go lie down at night to nurse them

to sleep and fall asleep without brushing, or wake up and have stuff to do

before I even went to the bathroom.... and would forget or not have time.

I'm a bit behind so excuse me! But, I was thinking that teeth could be

weakend by alot of morning sickness..aka throwing up =)

BTW Heather, I love your John Holt quote (I'm a big

John Holt fan). I just wanted to add that chewable

vitamin C can also cause tooth decay. There are a lot

of factors and I would be slow to blame nursing. I'm

still nursing my 28 mo. old and I've never ever had an

cavities. I take B12 and that is it.

Just my experience,
