Guest guest
Since so many people responded so kindly to my original question, I thought I'd post a brief update. My DH redid the blood test after Labour Day - in the interim, he cut out some fat, most alcohol and a great deal of sugar. The results are now in the high normal range, rather than alarmingly high. The doc agrees that he should try the dietary route for three months, and then re-test. He's made some serious modifications (mostly in the realm of sugar, as his fat intake was already around the 30% mark). Cutting alcohol around the holidays has been hard, but so far he's been sticking to the one glass for kiddush and leaving it at that. So far so good - no drugs. One common side effect of the statins is muscle spasms, and as he is prone to excruciating ones at the best of times, he is really very motivated not to start taking them unless he really, really has to. Many thanks to all who responded! Be well, Hadass in Winnipeg. -- Hadass Eviatar Winnipeg, Canada http://www.superhwy.net/~eviatar To do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy G-d. His mineral level is probabally off balance from the statins. This is the same as quinine. Good luck, Peace, Laura
Guest guest
Hadass, Thanks for the update. I'm so glad your husband is getting things under control without meds. Sending strength his way to avoid the sugar, etc. temptations! Take care, Linda News - Today's headlines http://news.
