Guest guest
Hello. I have been anemic for some time. I take an over-the-counter time-release iron (Ferosequel). At the time they discovered the anemia I was more than lethargic. What I mean is that it took great difficulty and effort to even raise my legs high enough to walk, climb stairs, etc. I was also severely depressed. This happened immediately after I had one ovary and tube removed and we all thought it was due to the surgery. Anyway, within 3-4 days of iron supplements I was back to " normal " (whatever normal means!) and I take them everyday now. I am not menstruating (I am on perpetual birth control to stop my period due to severe endometriosis), so I don't believe it can be such a major player in iron deficiency. Also, if your period was the culprit, then you would only be low in iron during those days you are bleeding. Effective solutions for " fixing " iron levels through diet: raisins, grapes, dates, dark leafy greens. Eat foods with Vitamin C in addition to those with iron - C assists in absorption of iron. Do you have any specific questions? Hope this helps, Sonia In a message dated 9/11/2002 8:44:35 AM Eastern Standard Time, writes: > Do any of you out there suffer from low iron and/or anemia?
