Guest guest
All you have to do is to sit comfortably with your back straight, gaze softly at the center of the Sri Yantra, and refrain from blinking. Each time you blink, start all over again. Your eyes will fill with tears, and that's fine (as a matter of fact, Trataka is yoga for the eyes, and is said to improve your vision). After a few minutes, the Sri Yantra will start changing in shape and perhaps colors. Go with the flow, enjoy, and remember not to blink. Once you are finished, rub your hands vigorously and cup them on your eyes to soothe them. You can practice Trataka on a lit candle as well. However, due to its symbolism and visual complexity, the Sri Yantra is a much more interesting tool for this practice. More specifically, the Sri Yantra is an ancient tantric diagram representing the union of Shakti and Shiva, who are respectively embodied in the ascending and descending triangles--that's why meditating on this Yantra is particularly appropriate for kundalini folks!
